Mate, I need a different kind of promo for my film.
Something powerful that shows off all the work done.
What about short clips of the making of that take you through everything that happened, but like at breakneck speed? Making use of the editing.
No words, no voices, no titles.
Great! But how short?
Like one minute long each.
We’ll play with the idea of sowing powerful seeds instead of it looking like one big piece.
The film’s already powerful enough. You don’t need to make it more so.
I’ve designed a clothing collection. Four jackets.
I love them. Let’s give each one a story of its own.
The collection is called Quadrophenia, by the way.
I’ve got it. One character, four days, four lives, four different jackets.
Each one will represent an alter ego of the character. But we’ll take it a little further.
They’ll be like superhero outfits, but the other way around.
Each outfit brings out a different dark side in the character.
I like it. Four disguises to let out our dark sides, but without being judged for it.

We have 3 really powerful stories and we need someone to tell them.
What are they about?
There’s a village in Cameroon with 100 women who are gathering all their money together so that just one child can go to school every month.
A family in China, strict to the core, and how they impose an almost military routine on a child.
A French family that teach their children at home, outside the system, in Spain.
This is the first feature film I’m going to do.
Do you really expect me to say no to something like that?

We don’t want the typical wedding invite video. We want something that gets across who we are and how we started.
How do you feel about filming where the wedding will actually be?
Sure, the place is awesome. It’ll be in the mountains, there’s a big forest and a lake.
The guests have to understand that it’s not going to be just an ordinary wedding.
OK, ok… then we’ll make it really epic. Your wedding invite is going to be a f***ing trailer.
What do you mean?
We’re gonna hype it up to the max. You’re gonna dress up like it’s your wedding day, running through the woods, in the mountains and wading through the lake.
It’ll be like an obstacle course before getting to the place that you’ve chosen for everyone.
Are you serious? So we have to dress up like it’s our actual wedding day?
Exactly. That’s essential.

Have you ever thought about what it’d be like to see the other side of a funeral?
What do you mean… like looking beyond the grief?
More like looking at the secrets hidden behind the grief.
If we could see those, do you think the funeral would look the same?

I want to do a critique on the destruction of nature.
OK. So let’s make a post-apocalyptic world where the disappearance of nature has made the whole place inhospitable. Extreme weather, pollution…etc.
Sounds good!
A world where humans sentence nature just for existing, for being the root of our flaws.
It’d be a really absurd scenario, where water would get the blame for flooding, and fish would be on trial for bringing rubbish to our beaches.
A dystopia?
The sad thing is that it’s not actually that dystopian.

I propose. Why don’t we create a human forest?
How?
I want to use such a basic element as a forest as an example of what an ideal society looks like.
Describe that society to me.
A society in which gender is diluted.
And love flows without distinction.
The trees are all the same, but unique at the same time.
I understand.
And not only that. I would like to show a metaphor of how we destroy ourselves when something shocks us. When we don’t tolerate other people’s way of thinking.
You want to add destruction.
Yes, how we burn the forest, as a symbol of self-destruction.
How we put obstacles in our way to avoid evolving.

What is love?
Phew, what a question.
It’s easier to talk about what love isn’t.
Clearly. It’ll be easier in 5 minutes.
And love, it can’t be toxic.
What happens when it is?
We lose our identity. And even more so when we fuck to cover up the problem.
Over and over again.
Yes, until we no longer recognize ourselves.

Hi, we’re doing a campaign with Spike Lee.
Yeah?
He wants you to direct a piece for it.
Wow! I’m in. What’s the theme?
Just make a good NY story.

I wish I could find someone like me.
What do mean… like you?
Would it be toxic or perfect?
If they were… exactly like you?
Yeah.
Would you like to find out?

Can you imagine a world where everyone
just communicates with sex?
You mean, like no one talks?
Well, maybe only couples, right?
Or people you’re intimate with.
A reversed world?
And… what would an affair be?
